About Our Furniture Removal Quotes:

Booking your moving company as early as possible is ideal. As a general guideline, aim to book at least a month in advance. Keep in mind that schedules and trucks fill up quickly, especially near the end of the month and year. If you wait too long to secure a booking during these busy periods, there may not be space available to accommodate your move.

Our quotes are based on the volume of your furniture and belongings. Submitting an inventory list allows us to provide an accurate quote tailored to your needs. Additionally, clarity on any abnormally large or heavy items is crucial, as our trucks typically operate with a team of 3-4 movers. Items that require hoisting over balconies or disassembly will incur additional charges.

It’s important to ensure your inventory list is accurate. If extra items are present at collection, they may not fit on the truck, or additional charges could apply.

The time required to receive your quote depends on whether your move is local or long-distance. Local move quotes can often be delivered within an hour, while long-distance move quotes may take up to one business day.

Our basic quote ensures a streamlined moving experience and includes:

  • Transporting belongings from Point A to Point B.
  • A closed truck to protect items from weather conditions.
  • Professional manpower for loading and unloading.
  • Protective blankets and strapping to secure items during transit.

Unless otherwise stipulated, a basic quote does not include:

  • Dismantling and reassembling furniture.
  • Protective wrapping (bubble wrap, plastic covers, etc.).
  • Packing of boxes.
  • Hoisting furniture over balconies or through windows.
  • Removing doors to accommodate large items.
  • Specialized packing for TVs, artwork, and other delicate items.

Kindly let us know in advance if you require any of these services so we can tailor your quote.

Average furniture removal prices in South Africa varies based on factors like distance, household size, and additional services. Local moves can start at around R1,500, while long-distance relocations may range from R3,500 to R40,000 or more.

Yes, we do have a minimum rate for our moving services. The minimum rate for each area or moving route differs depending on factors such as distance and toll fees. This rate accounts for the essential costs associated with operating a moving company, which include:

  • Fuel Costs: The trucks must travel from our depot to your pickup location, then to the drop-off address, and finally back to our depot. These distances require careful consideration of fuel expenses, especially for long-distance moves.
  • Labor: Our trained movers work diligently to load, transport, and unload your items. The minimum rate ensures fair compensation for their expertise and effort.
  • Time: Every move requires planning, loading, driving, and unloading, which all contribute to the time commitment from our teams.

We provide a variety of packaging materials to ensure the safety of your belongings during transit. These include:

  • Bubble Wrap: Perfect for fragile items such as glassware, mirrors, and electronics.
  • Plastic Wrap: Used for covering couches, appliances, and wooden furniture to avoid scratches.
  • Plastic Covers: Additional protection for mattresses, sofas, and upholstered furniture.
  • Boxes: We offer a professional packing service on the day of the move which includes boxes, all the packing materials required, and packing of the boxes.

Contact your removals consultant to get a quote for any packing requirements you may have.

Goods in Transit insurance up to a certain amount is included in your move. This includes cover for vehicle theft, highjacking, turnover, and fire. Handling damage, scratches, and dents is not covered under this insurance option.

We offer the option to add All Risk insurance to your move, which is available at a percentage of the value of your items. All Risk is a comprehensive insurance option that covers handling damage in addition to the above.

Discuss the best insurance option for your move with your consultant to ensure you’re fully protected. Or, contact your household insurers and enquire if they provide cover during transport.

Payment terms will be discussed with your removals consultant during the quoting process. Ensure all arrangements are clear to avoid any last-minute confusion.

About Our Removal Trucks:

Each of our trucks is equipped with blankets to protect delicate items during transit. Additional wrapping materials, such as plastic wrap, bubble wrap, and plastic covers, are not automatically included but can be provided upon request. Speak to your dedicated removals consultant for a detailed quote on protective wrapping options to avoid scratches or other damages.

Long-distance moving trucks are large vehicles that require significant clearance and turning space. If your addresses have restricted access—such as height or weight restrictions in complexes or estates—or if the carrying distance exceeds 35 meters, a smaller vehicle called a “shuttle” is used to transport your items between the main truck and your home. This ensures a safe and efficient delivery process.

A shared load allows multiple clients to share a single truck, spreading costs based on the volume of their furniture. This approach is highly cost-effective for long-distance moves but requires flexibility with collection and delivery dates. Trucks on main routes operate on set weekly schedules, while other areas may require a day or two of flexibility as the truck passes through.

Shared loads are one of our most requested services, offering a cost-effective way to transport your belongings. It allows us to combine loads efficiently, making long-distance moves more affordable without compromising on reliability. Collections and deliveries require 1-2 days flexibility, especially on less common routes. This is due to multiple collection and delivery addresses involved which sometimes makes it difficult to schedule in advance.

Turnaround times depend on the regions involved:

Main Routes: Major cities such as Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban have weekly schedules for pickups and deliveries. Relocations between these locations usually take 2-7 days.

Secondary Routes: For less common areas, trucks collect and deliver when they have enough moves to an area or when they are passing through. These deliveries could take up to 10 days, with an average turnaround time of 5-7 days.

No. To ensure accuracy, an inventory is taken as your items are loaded onto the truck, and you will receive a copy. At delivery, the same list is used to confirm all items are accounted for, with a signature required to finalize delivery. Occasionally, stickers or separators may also be used to differentiate between clients’ belongings.

Our primary routes between major South African cities include weekly trips between:

  • Durban ⇄ Johannesburg
  • Johannesburg ⇄ PE & The Garden Route
  • Cape Town ⇄ Durban
  • Cape Town ⇄ PE & The Garden Route

Beware of Moving Scams

Unfortunately, the moving industry has its share of untrustworthy operators, often referred to as “sharks.” These entities prey on unsuspecting customers by offering cheap quotes and then delivering subpar services—or worse, disappearing entirely.

Here’s how to protect yourself:

  • Be Wary of Extremely Low Quotes: If the price seems too good to be true, it probably is. Low quotes often lead to unexpected add-ons or poor service.
  • Check Credentials: Always verify the company’s registration, insurance, and reviews. A legitimate company will have a physical address, a working website, and verifiable customer testimonials.
  • Look at Reviews: If a company has many bad reviews, only has a few, or their reviews are all from similar dates, they are most likely a scam.
  • Ask Questions: Don’t hesitate to inquire about their process, equipment, and guarantees. If a company is vague or avoids answering, that’s a red flag.
  • Demand Documentation: Ensure you receive a formal quote, a list of Ts & Cs, and an inventory list for your moving quote. Legitimate movers will document every step of the process.

By choosing our services, you’re working with a reputable moving company that prioritizes integrity, professionalism, and your satisfaction. We strive to make every move a positive experience, from start to finish.

Proper packing is essential. Use sturdy boxes and ensure they are fully packed, with sufficient padding between fragile items. Partially filled boxes are more prone to collapse during transit, potentially causing damage.

Knowing the standard box sizes can help you estimate your packing needs and ensure that your inventory list is as accurate as possible. Here are some common sizes:

  • Small Boxes (40 cm x 30 cm x 30 cm): Ideal for books, canned goods, and smaller items.
  • Medium Boxes (46 cm x 41 cm x 46 cm): Great for kitchenware, toys, or small appliances.
  • Large Boxes (46 cm x 46 cm x 61 cm): Suitable for bulkier but lighter items like bedding, clothing, or lampshades.
  • Extra-Large Boxes (61 cm x 51 cm x 61 cm): Best for oversized but lightweight items like comforters and pillows.

Yes, but they are considered hazardous materials. All gas bottles must be emptied before they are transported.

We cannot transport exceptionally heavy items that exceed the lifting capacity of our team or require a forklift. Examples include:

  • Extra-large pot plants
  • Large safes
  • Cement outdoor furniture
  • Oversized fridges with glass doors

Firearms are strictly prohibited on our moving trucks.

Additionally, we recommend clients personally transport small, high-value items like jewelry, watches, and laptops, especially if no insurance is taken out for the move.
