How to pack a TV for moving
Packing up TVs for moving can be a complicated process as they are very fragile and can be easily damaged. TVs are expensive equipment that you will want to ensure are safe during transit. Below we discuss the best way to pack a TV for moving to ensure a stress free experience that won’t leave your items damaged.
Keep leads and accessories together
When you are preparing your TV for the move, first unplug it and gather all the cords and accessories that come with it, together. Place these in a bag or a small box which is labelled, so that you know where to find it all when you are in the new house. Zip tie any cables so that they don’t get tangled up. If the TV is on a stand, then remove this before placing the TV into any box. If you don’t do this the stand or the TV could get damaged.
Use the original box
If you still have the original box that the TV came in, then you should definitely use this to pack it up. The box is designed to keep the TV safe, so it is the perfect size for your TV. However, if you have lost any of the packing materials that came in the box to start with, such as the protecting foam or cardboard, then you will need to use packing paper or bubble wrap to ensure the TV can’t move around in the box.
If you don’t have the original box
If you threw away the original packaging, then you will need to find another box that is a suitable size. Wrap the TV in bubble wrap to ensure the screen does not get damaged and place the TV into the box. If the TV is sticking out in any way you will need to find a bigger box. Use packing paper or more bubble wrap to ensure there are no gaps in the box. Tape up the box and label it as ‘fragile’ so that the removal company knows to be careful with it and places it in a safe place in the truck.
Find a safe place to put the box in the van
If you are using a removal company, they will know the best place to store the TV in the truck to ensure it doesn’t move around or get crushed which could cause damage. As long as you tell them what is inside of the box, they will do the rest.
