History and Education

It’s easy to understand how Barrydale came to be. The land where Barrydale stands today started as the perfect location for farmers to plant their crops on as a means to support their families. The town was only officially established in the 19th century, named after the well known merchant Joseph Barry who used to trade in the area.

The Education

Even for it’s smaller size, Barrydale has four schools dedicated to supporting the residents and their children’s education. The four schools located in Barrydale include Barrydale Boarding School, Barrydale High School, Laerskool Dagbreek and BF Oosthuizen Primary School.
