What to Do When Moving Home with Plusnet Phone & Internet
How to take it with you, set it up OR cancel your service. Here’s how to manage moving home with Plusnet
A simple phone call. Easy steps. And uninterrupted phone and internet. Our team has compiled an easy step-by-step guide to manage moving home with Plusnet as your phone & internet supplier.
Now, just as important as picking a good removal company, you want to notify your broadband supplier well before the time when you move. And, whether you want to take them with you, switch or cancel when you move, here’s who to contact and how to arrange everything you need to with Plusnet phone & internet:
Moving home with Plusnet internet & phone
Phone and broadband internet supplier Plusnet tries to make moving home as easy and stress-free for you as possible. They say they’ll take care of everything for you, getting you set up at a new address quickly – just phone their dedicated home moving team on 0800 587 1952. The only thing they ask is that you notify them at least 4 weeks before your move.

1. MOVING OUT AND TAKING PLUSNET WITH YOU
Step 1: Phone the Plusnet moving home team
Make a quick call to 0800 587 1952 – they’ll have all the info you need. Do this at least 4 weeks before you move to ensure you don’t have service interruptions.
Step 2: GIve them your moving details
Update your account with your new address, desired package and your moving date.
Step 3: Focus on your move
That’s it, now you can focus on your move, knowing your phone and internet will be set up when you get to your new home.
HOT TIP: CONSIDER TAKING OUT A NEW CONTRACT AT YOUR NEW HOME
When moving into a new house, your Plusnet has to get set up at the new address – and that normally requires an installation fee. But an added benefit of staying with Plusnet is they’ll waive the installation charge and do it for free, if you take out a new contract at your new address.
Just note: A cancellation fee might apply to your existing contract, so just check with them, see what the difference in cost is (between staying on your current package and paying the installation VS taking a new one and saving on installation), and pick the cheaper option, or whatever’s best for you.
2. MOVING HOME AND GETTING PLUSNET FOR THE FIRST TIME
Moving and considering getting Plusnet? Again, it’s best to set up your service at least 4 weeks before you move in.
Step 1: Choose a package
See what’s available from Plusnet here and pick what works for you.
Step 2: Get setup
Buy online or phone 0800 432 0200 to get your Plusnet set up in your new home by the time you move in.
HOT TIP: MAKE USE OF THE 14-DAY TRIAL
Plusnet has a 14-day trial period, where you pay no cancellation fees. So, if you’re unsure, you can give them a try and see how you like the service.
3. CANCELLING YOUR PLUSNET WHEN MOVING HOME
You can cancel your Plusnet service when moving home. Simply contact them via their website or phone 0800 432 0200 to see how to do that. Just note: There might be an early-cancellation fee on your service, depending on your package and contract. You see what that cost will be on your account details page.
Important Plusnet moving home contacts
They have a dedicated moving home team, which you can phone on 0800 587 1952.
Additional info
WHAT HAPPENS TO MY BROADBAND IF I MOVE HOUSE?
You have to notify your supplier, because you need the service to end at your current address and start at your new home. Giving them as much notice ahead of time as possible is a good idea. And then, you’ll have to choose whether you’re taking your existing internet supplier with you, or switching to a new one at your new home.
CAN YOU ARRANGE BROADBAND BEFORE YOU MOVE IN?
Yes. All broadband providers have a sign-on or moving in page with info on how to get it set up before you move in. With Plusnet specifically, you can have internet set up in your new home through this page.
DOES PLUSNET CHARGE TO MOVE HOUSE?
No, but you will have to settle your usage in your current home. And then you can actually save on the setup/installation costs at your new home by taking out a new package with Plusnet for it, but note that cancellation fees might then apply to your existing package – just phone Plustnet’s moving home hotline at 0800 587 1952 to find out what’s best for you.
IS THERE A CANCELLATION FEE FOR PLUSNET?
Yes, there might be. See, when you’re in a trial phase with them, there’s no cancellation fee within a 14-day period (you’ll only be charged for your usage) – see their cancellation policy in their Ts&Cs here. But, if you’ve been with them for a while, there could be an early-cancellation fee on your current package, which is different for everyone, depending on your package – to find out what that amount is, log into your account details page with them.
