Maesteg is a town found in the community of Bridgend in Wales and had a population of over 20 000 in 2011. Maesteg was originally a farming town, owing its growth to the iron works that began in the 18th century. Iron ore was mass produced until the 1870’s when steel became a more popular option.
Maesteg has 3 railway stations, all making a commute in and out very easy and accessible. There are also busses that run in and out on a daily basis to areas such as Cardiff. English and Welsh are the predominant languages spoken here.
Residents of Maesteg get to enjoy a quieter lifestyle as they are out of the direct influence of the city, however they are still close enough to hop into Cardiff or surrounding areas simply by getting onto a bus. There are also nearby amenities available such as local supermarkets, Tesco or ASDA in Bridgend as well as some excellent medical facilities nearby.
