Cowbridge is a market town, situated in the Vale of Glamorgan in Wales and had a population of just over 6000 in the last census taken in 2011. Cowbridge is bursting with history, heritage and architecture, as it lies on the site of a Roman Settlement and is one of a few medieval walled towns found in Wales today.
Some interesting facts about Cowbridge, its town hall was a prison until the 18th century and quite a few of the prison cells have been preserved for tourists to walk through and explore. The rest of the building is currently used for town events. Cowbridge has also been home to some noteworthy people, such as Sir Anthony Hopkins, the famous and beloved actor; as well as the poet Alun Lewis.
